Background My current research involves studying the commonly used fluorescent dye, sulfoindocyanine (Cy3). In particular I am investigating the role of DNA sequence and stacking interactions on the fluorescent and photophysical properties of Cy3-DNA constructs. Due to its common use in studying the structure and dynamics of nucleic acids, it is important that the changes in photophysical properties taking place upon covalent attachment to DNA be well understood. |
