GAANN Award

The Center for Biological Physics and the Department of Physics at ASU have been awarded a $514K award from the Department of Education program Graduate Assistantships in Areas of National Need (GAANN). This prestigious national program is designed to bring the most talented young US scientists into exciting research areas, such as biological physics. The GAANN award at ASU is spearheaded by Prof Otto Sankey, with assistance from Prof Timothy Newman, and aims to fully fund 12 graduate students over the next three years. The recipients of GAANN fellowships for 2009-10 are Daryn Benson, Stephanie Cope, Aviskek Kumar, and Rory Staunton.
